CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (Jan. 3, 2008) – Michael Murphy has been named plant manager at Anheuser-Busch’s Cartersville brewery effective immediately. He replaces Steve McDaniel who was named senior plant manager at the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Jacksonville, Fla. Murphy has served as senior assistant plant manager at the Williamsburg, Va., brewery since 2004.
Murphy joined Anheuser-Busch in 1985 as beer packaging and shipping (BP&S) supervisor at the Houston brewery; moved to Cartersville in 1992 as a support group manager in BP&S; was promoted to western regional training manager in St. Louis corporate operations in 1994; and was eventually promoted to assistant maintenance manager at the Fort Collins, Colo., in 1997.
Murphy relocated to the Jacksonville brewery in 1999 as senior area manager in operations, and transferred back to Cartersville in 2002 as senior manager of operations.
Murphy was born in Fort Wayne and graduated from Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Ala., in 1978. He worked at International Harvester, Johnson & Johnson and Pepsi-Cola before coming to Anheuser-Busch in 1985.

McDaniel has been with Anheuser-Busch for more than 20 years working at the company’s breweries in Jacksonville, Fla., Merrimack, N.H. and Fort Collins, Colo. prior to coming to Cartersville. He was appointed senior plant manager at Cartersville in 2001.
The Cartersville brewery has operated in Bartow County since 1993, brewing and packaging more than 23 quality beers, including the nation’s top-selling brands, Budweiser and Bud Light. The brewery has a capacity of 8 million barrels annually and ships beer to Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina.
