ANHEUSER-BUSCH’S NEWEST CONTRIBUTION BRINGS TOTAL TO $280,000 FOR MILE HIGH UNITED WAY

Contributions Benefit School Readiness, Youth Success and Self-Sufficiency Programs

DENVER (March 28, 2006) – The Mile High United Way received a boost to its campaign from Anheuser-Busch. Through employees’ pledges from the Anheuser-Busch Sales Company of Denver, as well as support from the Anheuser-Busch Foundation, the organization received donations totaling nearly $23,000.  Over the past 11 years, the Anheuser-Busch Foundation and the employees of Anheuser-Busch’s Denver operation have combined to donate over $280,000 to the Mile High United Way.

“Anheuser-Busch historically has served as a committed supporter of the Mile High United Way,” said Michael Durkin, president of the Mile High United Way.  “From the financial support of the corporation and its employees through their volunteering efforts, they have served as vital and active participants in helping the United Way build stronger communities.”

The Mile High United Way partners with more than 80 community organizations to help people in metro Denver.  Donations to the Mile High United Way help fund local organizations providing needed services throughout the community, including:  low-cost day care, preventive health care for children, affordable housing, nutritional meals and career training.

“Anheuser-Busch has a long-standing tradition of giving back to the communities in which we do business,” said Tom Salaba, vice president and general manager of the Anheuser-Busch Sales Company of Denver.  “We feel it is important to us to act as a good neighbor, and our help us accomplish this through their support.”

Mile High United Way’s mission is to unite the community’s resources to help people help themselves.  You can now call United Way 2-1-1, a free, bilingual, phone number that connects people with the largest database across the Rocky Mountain Region for health and human services.  You can also access 2-1-1 online at www.unitedwaydenver.org.
